The Community Griot Series kicks off this month with a special session featuring a local quilt-maker who will share the rich cultural history of African American quilting. From coded messages in Underground Railroad quilts to the vibrant storytelling of Gee’s Bend quilters, learn how this art form has woven its way through Black history.

No sewing experience? No problem! Whether you stitch, glue, or draw your design, you’ll create a quilt patch to take home as a symbol of your own story and heritage.
